POEM: Silver Lining

Friday, 11 October 2013

For so long I thirsted
The beast of the desert hunted
I was their prey too many times
I sought for the wet land
And sought for the fat meat
When I found it,
The wet land was filled with acid
The fat meat stuffed with poison
Each time I drank,
I was destroyed inside
And each time I ate,
I was left more empty and hungered for more

Then I came across the thin goat
I stared it with gloat
And vowed never to let it down my throat
To even get close I loath

But a step of faith
Brought an end to my wait
All I ever wanted was disguised
In what I always hated

Wisdom of God brought me to it
The meat I eat
Not a single remorse
And though thin, it’s never exhausted and
In abundance.
